The median income for a working age person (18-65) is 26k, according to US tax returns. Of course some people earn unreported income (waiters etc) but I'm doubtful the true number is above 30k or so. The median income household (includes households with more than one earner) is about 49k. A household earning 110k is easily in the top 10%. I think 1% starts at about 350k or so.
