John Stossel and some libertarian bros argue for what I guess would be defined as a privatized regulatory body ... that industry would have a strong incentive to want to show it is safe ... but I tend to think that's one of those things which sounds better on paper than in reality where a food or drug company would cut major corners and do whatever it is in their power to "capture" the regulator
