the idea that the stock market will magically go up forever is one of the most absurd things everyone takes for granted
China doesn't give a shit about their stock market, and despite dominating the world's supply chains and production its stocks have been flat for over 15 years now. There are also cases like Japan where markets can just go flat for decades because sometimes growth actually does stall. And our stock market has been inflated for decades because of money printer + reserve currency, so what exactly is supposed to happen when we actively decide to no longer be the reserve currency?
