I don’t think I would’ve made the thread. This was probably more disproportionately prevalent with Scum/URMs before backup cameras made it less of a flex. Anyway they really just “like” doing it. That’s the thing with proles. Everyone drives but they’re “into” driving. They’re much much more likely to have profile pics taken in their Car. They rant on YouTube from their Cars. They’ll pass you at 100 mph for revenge if you pass them at 75. Tailgating. All of it. Also they’ll drive 40,000k miles a year. No one knows why. So yes they’ll back into a parking spot even if the lot is busy.

Backup cameras sort of killed this cause now suburban housewives back into parking spaces. But Scumbags and URMs will still do it in 20 year-old Cars.

It's actually not that much of a flex in older cars since the belt lines are so much lower. You look over your right shoulder and.... can actually see shit. Discuss.

They do it dark places though. Like if you go to a parking garage at a casino or a courthouse there will be Scumbags/URMs backing into spaces where there is no natural light and just a flickering light bulb. It’s personal to them for some reason.

Back in parking is safer generally. You get a view of the location you're parking before beginning the maneuver and you are not pulling out blind into a traffic area.

I think this is the real reason proles back in. They don't really have impulse control and come flying out of the parking space without checking mirrors -- for them it really is safer (both for themselves to avoid oncoming traffic and any potential pedestrians).

It's safer in the sense that you can see any obstructions or people in the location before backing in and it's a relatively restricted space you're entering. Where as when back out you're going into a stream of traffic. I heard this from a driver safety instructor.

Edit: and a huge number of accidents happen in parking lots. Kids in particular get hit all the time. Yes 5 mph from a one ton piece of metal will indeed kill you.

Does backing into the spot waste more time than the inevitable backing out does later?

One would naively expect parking space orientation to be a high time preference indicator, and for threads like this to consist of UMIs complaining about lazy poors never backing into spaces, presumably because they are all too focused on getting to Walmart.

The real cause that UMIs don't back into spaces is that nerds, Asians, and women can't drive. They lack the spatial awareness. This is also why they don't change lanes across 3 lanes of highway traffic at once.

it's going to be awkward backing in or backing out, so people who back in are the people who would pass the marshmallow test.
