Date: September 13th, 2025 6:56 PM Author: sable cowardly point the movie was a let down, unfortunately. the giveaway should've been the 1hr 48min runtime and Hunger Games director, but i was hopeful based on the trailer. they omitted the best details of the book and merged several characters into one. i didn't think the book's ending was that great, but the reworking in the movie didn't land for me. "test audiences" preferred what they went with, of course.
one of the worst parts of the movie is how little they showed of the damage caused by the walk. the "boys" (replaced with grown men in this version) are barely phased at mile 150. i think the main character breaks into a skip after 200 miles and 3 days of walking. the movie is full of little stupid things like that, and it's incomprehensible that so much time and money can go into a movie and yet there be these glaring oversights.
i guess everything is required to be bland and boring and "never cross the line." supposedly SK was a consultant on the movie and required to sign off on everything, but he is a demented shitlib boomer at this point so it's no surprise that this all got approved by him. SK was so proud of insisting the min speed be lowered from 4mph to 3mph, but they simultaneously made the movie 10x more unrealistic than the book.
the running man was a great book. i'm sure it will be a letdown too. |
