I'm writing a song right now it's kind of unusual. The intro is a sort of Jaco style jazzy intro with kind of trip hop drums. Then it goes to a 'verse' that's kind of uptempo surf rock. Then out of nowhere there's a chorus that's kind of Nu Metaly. It's all instrumental there's no lyrics or vocals. I can't think of what if anything to put in. It was kind of inspired by Charlie Kirk’s death. I just got emotional and these random melodies just came out of me.

Rockish stuff. Helps me write songs when I can lay down a bass line. I just do guitar in my band so I relearned the major/pentatonic scale modes for a 6 string so I would be able to use the extra strings. It’s pretty similar looking patterns:

Nice. Would love to hear your songs if you’ve recorded anything.

I see the appeal of the 5 string. Adds new positions on the neck to play stuff and a few extra notes.

Maybe if I had one and played it regularly I’d get used to it but it just feels awkward and uncomfortable to me whenever I play one.

late 90s MIM Fender P Bass, set up by the bass player for Clay Walker Band.

One day when I have some spare cash and some more room I would love one of these: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BTB865SCWKL--ibanez-bass-workshop-btb865sc-5-string-bass-guitar-weathered-black-low-gloss

You should get a top of the line RME Fireface. Go all in on building a home studio. Don't talk to your wife and kids anymore. Get singular about the vision.

You're very lucky. More time to compose. Women and children are anathema to creating great art. That's why Frank Zappa would go into his studio for days and not come out. Then he would get horny and go fuck a groupie. He'd come back and kiss his wife on the cheek and ask if she made dinner. His kids lived in the same house but just thought he was some strange man wandering around. They had no idea who he was exactly. That's what it takes if you want your legacy to be Composition.
