Kills some guys who didn’t 100% definitely need killing just because.

What are you guys watching on Netflix btw? House of Cards annual rewatch (for liberal artists)? Or West Wing (also for liberal artists)

Yeah he doesn’t get credit for being the most stone cold Bond, just the most “dapper” one.

That scene where he sends some Scumbag to his plummeting death by swatting his tie away in The Spy Who Loved Me.

Roger Moore was the James Bond that I grew up watching (even after he had been replaced) and he is my favorite.

My favorite Bond Film is actually For Your Eyes Only - one of the hottest Bond chicks, badass ski scene, badass underwater scuba fighting submarine scene, and greatest mountain climbing scene ever filmed. It had it all.

Come on, you left out the obvious — Boomers LOVE Connery. His bully Scottish accent, his date-rape of Pussy Galore, his malapropisms like the O levels statement.

Also I think Nerds like Lazenby, it’s probably the best “acting” job of the Bond films, especially that weird section where he pretends to be a homo.

And I guess it is standard issue Loser opinion but OHMSS really is one of the best from a filmmaking perspective, many of the Bond films are fun but not exactly good.

Lazenby has the screen presence of a child actor except Tall. He’s literally a non-actor. And he’s dubbed for half the movie. When Roger Moore pretends to be a marine biologist they didn’t use it as a chance to dub him. They weren’t looking for an EXCUSE to dub him like with Lazenby.

I prefer the sillier ones like Live and Let Die and Golden Gun. Dapper Roger Moore getting pwned by Harlem blacks with Afros is never not hilarious. And Scaramanga is probably my favorite villain, Christopher Lee kills that role.

Watched Live and Let Die for the first time in 30 years. The gritty 1970s NYC scenes in the first 45 mins are actually 180, but it does kind of lose it in the 2nd half.

Yesterday was the first time I understood the plot to Octopussy iirc. For years that rogue Soviet guy with the kind of East German sounding accent who ends up getting shot by his own people just felt confusing and disconnected, but once you see how everything links it actually works.

Afaik, the faberge egg pulls Bond into Octopussy’s orbit, and Octopussy’s whole circus smuggling operation is what ultimately leads him to the rogue nuclear plot. Btw imho the circus angle is pretty ingenious when you think about it. A traveling Circus is constantly moving massive amounts of stuff across borders and it all looks legitimate, so as a smuggling vehicle it makes intuitive sense that things could slip through without heavy scrutiny. Within that setup Khan is moving jewels, Octopussy is running the logistics without realizing the full stakes, and Orlov is piggybacking on the same pipeline to move something far more dangerous. Structurally it is actually one of the better Bond scripts because the chain of discovery is clean even if it feels chaotic on first watch.

Btw there is a weird meta layer with Octopussy being the Same Actress from The Man with the Golden Gun, where she is trapped under an older powerful criminal figure that Bond ultimately eliminates, and then she shows up later in Octopussy as an older Woman whose father was killed by Bond, now running her own operation, which creates this quiet franchise rhyme that makes both roles feel more interconnected imho.
