In a quaint town, a lawyer stood small,

With a heart vast, he answered love’s call.

Married to Rose, a beauty of twenty-six,

Her love for him bloomed, yet marred by a fix.

She adored his wit, his tender embrace,

But his stature, oh, it shadowed her grace.

“Why so short?” she’d sigh in the night,

Yearning for a child, their hearts held tight.

Month after month, their hopes would wane,

No babe to bless their love’s sweet refrain.

Barren dreams tore at their seams,

Till one night, Rose chased forbidden dreams.

To a village she fled, where tall men did dwell,

Their shadows stretched long, a towering spell.

In moonlight’s glow, she lost her way,

Twelve strangers she met, in passion’s sway.

No thought of consequence, no guard, no care,

The night spun wild, her heart laid bare.

She returned to her love, her secret kept deep,

While guilt and desire haunted her sleep.

A month passed slow, then joy broke through,

“I’m pregnant!” she cried, her husband’s eyes grew.

He danced, he laughed, his dreams alight,

Unaware of the truth that hid in the night.

Short in frame, but boundless in cheer,

He planned for a future, a child so dear.

Rose smiled softly, her heart in a bind,

Love for her man, yet secrets unkind.

The babe would come, a mystery’s seed,

A tall man’s mark, or her husband’s creed?

In their small home, love fought to endure,

A fragile bond, both tarnished and pure.
