Got a pair of new AE oxfords that came out a half size too small. So drove over to the nearest store, at a mall about 35 minutes away from me without traffic -- but 45 on a day like today, since I had traffic.

I get to the mall, and there's no map at the entrance I walked into. No maps in the hallways until I get to the next entry point. Huge design flaw. Turns out I went the wrong way and had to turn around and go all the way to the other end of the mall for the AE store.

The worst part was the people. All of these reputable, designer stores. Brooks Brothers, Banana Republic, Vineyard Vines, etc. And yet it felt like strolling a crowded bazaar street in a third world country city. Everyone walking aimlessly slow with no purpose, gawking at random window displays.

I usually like when it's a family atmosphere and you have kids running around being kids, except all of the kids - and there were many - were so misbehaved. My ears went numb from the constant screams and screeches.

Even the air of the mall felt rather humid and moist. A heaviness to it. I honestly felt like putting a mask on and maybe some goggles to protect all my sinus openings from any novel tropical diseases floating about.

And the worst part was that the store didn't have the size of the shoe I wanted, so I left empty-handed; they're going to ship me the right-sized pair.

I'm never going to a mall again.
