Latest bloods came back this morning after my annual checkup yesterday and my cholesterol is now officially in the too bad to ignore range. Doc put me on 5 mg of Crestor. Otherwise all good. Not even pre-diabetic and my BMI is healthy. No hypertension. Good liver and kidney function and my calcium levels are normal after being elevated the last two checkups.

started Crestor but then went down the "Cholesterol is AKSHULLY Not the Cause of Coronary Artery Disease" rabbit hole online and it was more compelling than I expected. now conflicted.

I've never had any side effects from rosuvastatin (generic Creator) and most studies point to it being helpful for Alzheimer's which is my most likely source of generic pwnage. Many reported negative side effects are specific to atorvastatin

to be clear, I was hoping cholesterol WAS the only factor. it would make life simpler. I have no problem popping 5mg of Crestor. it's very well tolerated. but the more I look into it, a ton of actually smart cardiologists (as opposed to the midwits on my HMO) make an evidence-based case for it being more about insulin resistance and other factors, not LDL.

Did they check your parathyroid hormone, that can fuck up your calcium and slowly kill you (see Gary Shandling)

I took it for a while then stopped after getting too much lethargy and brain fog. Based on all my other numbers and age, I didn’t need it anyway.

Go down the rabbit hole of statin fraud. If you look at the research, for patients with no prior CV event, the absolute risk reduction is only 1%

are you planning to wait until after your first CV event to start taking statins?

Why are you guys always going to the doctor? I never go to the doctor. I’m also mid 40s.
