Not universally. Al-Farabi talks a lot about a concern with harmonizing them. Even within philosophy, Aristotle was often the dominant framework, but frequently in forms modified by Platonizing and Neoplatonic materials. The neoplatonist influence is more what did it than a simple belief that Plato and Aristotle were straightforwardly identical in doctrine.
