Ohio State, Indiana: Absolute machines that are just going to reload and generally dominate
Oregon: Lanning is a great coach, they'll do great in general, but they won't get it done when it counts against at least one Big 10 opponent in the regular season and against another top opponent who will knock them out of the CFP
Georgia: I'm skepitical about whether Kirby is actually a great coach or if he is just a good coach who is able to load up on talent. Either way, they'll compete for the national title
ND: Reached their ceiling. Won't be in the title game.
Ole Miss: Done here after Lane left.
Alabama: DeBoer is a damn fine coach. They'll be a competent, well-coached, and talented team. But, they're not going to be competing at the top every year like they were with Saban
Texas Tech: Sad to see how far the remnants of the Big 12 have fallen. I hope they can score 50 a game in exciting fashion before inevitably crashing out in the playoffs against more talented competition.
LSU: Underrated. Lane plus LSU boosters will have them competing at the top.
USC: Lincoln Reilly wasn't worth the hype. Top 25 but not top 10 is right for them. He'll be gone in a few years when he doesn't exceed that.
Michigan: They return a lot of talent from a team that was moderately competent last year in the face of extraordinarily incompetent coaching. E.g., their starting QB was an 18 year old freshman...for whom they did not have a QB coach. With the new staff, they'll be a top 10 team, though their rankings and W/L might not reflect it given the brutal schedule--Oregon, Indiana, OSU, Oklahoma.
Penn State: Interesting case. Matt Campbell did more with less at Iowa State for years
Clemson: Can Dabo ever get it going again? I don't think this is their year, yet again. |
