I went to an insane high school where things were hard and then I got to college and thought “is this some kind of joke.” It was laughably easy. American universities are done here.

long way of saying school is in session 30 / 52 weeks of the year, i.e., 2 15 week semesters.

“in the throes of love, in a puddle of blood, lay a barely recognizable peterman, asshole ripped to shreds by the divine passion manifest in the elephantine phallus of mr. wayland belcher, cdl” is a long way of saying “peterman is gay” but the former has some descriptive value and besides a certain je ne sais quoi, no...

It's wild how much down time is baked in. The students are in class only 15ish hours per week during those few weeks that school is in session.

The professors teach only 4 or 8ish hours per week during those few weeks that school is in session. And then they get a sabbatical every few years.

University jobs are highly, highly credited. Limited hours and low stress when school is in session. Throttle down to near zero the other 2/3 of the year.

And it's all happening on the backs of taxpayer dollars, boomer donations, and usurious loans, all of which is money that would be better spent elsewhere.

I'm teaching an "overload" this semester and still only spend 12 hrs/week in the classroom. People in my position usually bitch and moan like they've been punched in the throat.

"I still overload": The man is an "academic" who removed his prosperity and happiness.

I question anyone that says they enjoy work life better than school life. Maybe if you were premed or something school sucked but otherwise no way

I found college to be so much easier than high school it was unreal. In HS we always had bullshit "projects" and busy work AND YOU HAD TO wake UP AT LIKE 7 AM, meanwhile college was 180, 1st class at 10 am, like 2 tests all semester and you could go to office hours and BS with the prof and get a good grade just because you weren't an ESL foreigner or get in with 1 chinese kid to get the answer key they all shared
