In my case, if we are assuming citizenship by descent, I know I had at least one great grandparent that naturalized. My parents and grandparents were all born in the same small town, so I could get all the birth certificates in one trip to that town. All I need to track down is proof of naturalization for at least one great grandparent and then I can use the birth certificates to document that I am descended from a naturalized citizen. But there is no situation in which someone born on American soil to parents who are citizens is not a citizen, then, or now. There’s no naturalization happening there, because naturalization is the process by which a non-citizen gains citizenship.
I suppose you could say that Congress could in theory decide that some class of previously-naturalized immigrants were in fact illicitly naturalized and it doesn’t count, hence their descendants were never citizens in the first place. Maybe! But if you can demonstrate descent from citizens who were clearly in the country and citizens at the time of the Revolution (maybe even as late as the adoption of the Constitution) that is essentially untouchable evidence of citizenship “jus sanguinis”—no naturalization in that process at all. |

But this is literally THE key feature of citizenship at the time of the founding. It passed to your kids and their kids (NOT necessarily to the kids of other randos happening to be physically present in the country at some later date, of course. But YOURS? Yes.
