The battle took place over northeastern Ukraine. Ukrainian Air Force sent a fighter jet to attack Russian positions in the Kursk region. In response, the Russians raised an Su-35.
However, the Russian pilot was ambushed because a Swedish Saab 340 AWACS aircraft took off with the F-16, find Russian aircraft 300 km from the border, transmitted the coordinates to the F-16 pilot.
The American fighter fired an AIM-120 missile, and the Su-35 was shot down 16 km from the border near Korenevoye in the Kursk region.
Indeed, the Swedish AWACS system, which can detect Russian aircraft hundreds of kilometers away, neutralized the advantage that the radars on the Russian Su had in terms of range. |
