False the Mookie deal was substantially worse. Like a lot worse. That deal had no theoretical upside and was proven to be devastating in the long run. It was worse than Stalingrad for Germany.

we'll see. jordan hicks sucks. kyle harrison seems like a bust. the tibbs kid is a bat only prospect who can't hit in high A and the other guy is some random Arizona Fall League reliever. At least Verdugo and Wong contributed a bit.

People aren't understanding this deal. The players and prospects are throwaway add-ons. The deal was Devers for Devers contract. And San Francisco was desperate enough to pay every cent of it. This was a deal for cash and the Sox picked up that SFO was really gung ho to get this done and they said okay wait a minute we should get more compensation and they said okay here are 4 players we don't care about. I wouldn't put any stock into them. If they pan out great if not they're trade chips for what comes next. This was a deal to get 300 million off the books and open up flexibility. This is a deal that says we're gonna make a big free agent splash this off-season. Maybe extend Bregman. They've got all the options in the world right now. But don't overrate the throwaway comp players they'll never see the light of day. Had nothing to do with this trade but SFO bent over a barrel.

no i get it, they desperately regretted signing devers for 300M and would do anything to get rid of the liability. i think that just reflects everything that everyone hates about this ownership group that led to losing mookie and xander in the first place (ok, prob good they didnt sign xander). it seems unlikely theyll go ahead and sign anyone to a big long term contract anytime soon. we'll prob get them trying to pitch the bregman big aav, low year contracts going forward. color me skeptical. ok time to log into this zoom

Bregman desperately wants term. His agent is going to pitch him big AAV with the Sox and he's gonna be like no I want 6 years. He just never wants to be mid 30s and taking a team friendly deal with some shitty team. But hopefully he cucks and takes the money.

Rosy outlook: short term bad, long term good. The team turned on the jets in June and after an atrocious start given their potential everything was clicking for two weeks, 5-1 against NYY. OK but they're still a 500 team. With or without Devers. Does he get you to 87 wins or whatever you need to make the playoffs? Probably not. It's a team sport and he's just a piece. Plus Bregman comes back. Still lots time before the deadline. You play well and are buyers at the deadline. This deal isn't fully realized until you see who they sign for big money in the off-season. Lots of historical examples of addition by subtraction.

Negative view: cheap fuck owner who never liked the contract from day 1 and waited for the right moment to pull the rug out. More money to spend on the Penguins and Liverpool or whatever.

The truth is probably somewhere in between. See how they play out the rest of the year. The money can be spent better in all likelihood. And Devers was a diva who pissed off a lot of people in the organization.

i tend toward the latter view. i also think this hurts their marketability to big FAs since who would want to sign for a team that trades every big name that comes through the door. also, why do this now? best stretch of the season and you just kill all the momentum before the west coast trip. they got a hot bag of garbage in return, and surely could have held out for more if they waited til around the trade deadline if they were desperate to move him. i think john henry is just a cheap piece of shit and breslow is a sensitive little bitch who couldnt handle devers taking shots at him. devers was acting like a baby but they dont have anyone who can come close to filling that hole in the lineup. im fucking irate. but im still watching the game tonight like a good little soxcuck lmao.

If they win tonight you will get a stiffy knowing they're good because they're good all around and it wasn't just one guy. And you'll have a ton of cap space going forward and can expect a big free agent splash after the season. If they overperform it's a huge win. If they're 500 at the end of the year Devers wouldn't have made a difference.

Also rate Breslow as a Jew, a Yalie, an NYU med school admit who differed to play pro ball, and as being 6'1" with a world series ring. What's his moniker?

Breslow: we're akshually going to win MORE games. We now have more flexibility for the trade deadline, more time for the young players. This is a win now move!

this is very possible. what are they saying on Felger and Mazz and / or the man on the street chatter (e.g., the bartender at the Legacy Place Yard House you are currently at) today

Felger is typical Felger, he likes that they moved Devers but "they did it for the wrong reason, they are cheap"

Mazz is typical Mazz "You're so right Michael!"

Man on the street is ready to take up arms

I didn't get the deep cut but the gist of it was Felger and Murray liked the deal because they hated Devers attitude and thought it would improve the team long term. Mazz was YSFFM that a big market team that's normally in the top 5 in payroll have been whining about paying a guy real money. Mazz was really butthurt that the team isn't spending through the nose to win now like the Dodgers and Yankees.

Then Felger whined Jewishly that although he likes the move he still hates the team.

Yours in Christ
