It basically takes all factors into account.

If you are rich, pros can just handle it for you.

If you aren't rich, it takes your own hard work.

I’m the only one on the cul de sac who doesn’t hire out lawn service. I don’t do edging often because I can’t figure out how to load the line without it flinging out or breaking every 20 seconds.

I have the worst looking yard on the street, but I keep my grass mowed.

buy this, retard:

https://www.lowes.com/pd/EGO-16in-Powerload-String-Trimmer-w-Carbon-Fiber-Shaft-Bare-Tool/5015549783

even an abject retard could reload this one. you just cut the line, pass it straight through the holes and pull it to an equal length on both sides, then hold a button while it winds it for you.

It's strong too. If you have good string, to a certain extent it will slice through shit that you might normally grab shears or a hedge trimmer for.

The best lawn tool I have is this though:

https://www.lowes.com/pd/EGO-880CFM-Blower-Kit-2-4Ah-battery-320W-Charger/5015278625?irclickid=REMRHz2mNxycTElXi8RS1X6RUksRBG1ts0r8xg0&irgwc=1&cm_mmc=aff-_-c-_-prd-_-mdv-_-gdy-_-all-_-0-_-2481278-_-0

Just trust me, you NEED it. It has so much power that it can do tasks that you normally wouldn't be able to do with a leaf blower.

You are clueless. That Ego absolutely destroys all but a few gas-powered blowers. I have hardscaping with rocks the size of grapefruits and it can move them around on turbo mode (and I don't mean it rolls them on a flat surface, it dislodges them surrounded by other similar rocks so that I can knock out the leaves stuck in the cracks). it is an absolute CANNON that pushes your arm back. somehow it is actually a better performer than their larger/heavier 1000cfm commercial model.

Look at this tiny pink 692 CFM @ 180 MPH:

https://www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-965877502-2-Cycle-Backpack-Blower/dp/B002FU5SKU/

NOTHING compared to the Ego's 880 CFM at 205 MPH. You have to go up to $650 and a much bulkier machine to get something that will blow with materially more force:

https://www.amazon.com/Echo-PB-9010T-Backpack-Mounted-Throttle/dp/B08PKYS9NG

And why would you want more combustion engines to maintain than absolutely necessary? The only bad thing about the Ego is that you have to swap batteries fairly often if using it on turbo mode (which is drastic overkill for most things). But it's a 10 second switch so it doesn't really matter.

gardening and landscaping is a rewarding hobby for me too. i just don't like pristine monoculture lawns.

also my comment about the perfect lawn thing was about the people with stepford wives type lawns. i'm not such a zealot that i ripped mine out. i'm just overseeding it overtime. i still keep it nice and trim, watered, etc. it just doesn't look like a golf course.

My lawn is expansive, 6 acres out of 40. I have it maintained by a landscaping service. They charge about $300/week, plus occasional extras for shrub trimming, mulch, etc. The asparagus bed and veggie garden are my exclusive domain, however. I also have the landscapers leave me about 30 minutes of mowing so I don't get out of practice. I mow the road frontage and walking trails.

If I didn't have lawn it would be a weed field. I left the lawn lines pretty where the previous owner had them. Looks nice. About 12 acres is in cultivation. The remainder is either woods, lake, or overgrown pasture. When I mowed it the whole thing it took about 5 hours, including prep and clean up time. Not everything is an economic decision.

In case you are unfamiliar with meadows, they also have to mowed and maintained. Otherwise they become overgrown with brambles and shit. Eventually they will become woods (30-40 years). You can also maintain them by grazing them, but that requires care of livestock. If you just think you can just sit and look at for all eternity you are in for a shock.

I have a wildflower meadow and it has to be burned every other year alternating fall and spring and you can't let it go fallow or nitrophilic weeds will quickly take over. You can't graze it because all the animal waste put back into the soil will enrich it too much. Anti lawn people think their suburban lawn of heavily compacted soil dotted with dandelions is saving bees and owning their asshole republican dad.

Native Wildflower meadows here need calcareous dry soil, the fire is 100% needed, these species adapted to a fire regime and many can't germinate without it.

Poor beaver doods. I hate Arizona (my inlaws live there) and don't think anyone my age or younger will want to move there.

It's a burning cesspool that gets way too hot.

That state will die after boomers die.

Cr. Went on a golf trip there once, tee time was like 6 am cause thats the only time it was tolerable. When you got out of the swimming pool you'd dry out before you even grabbed a towel. Hellish place

it's hilarious that this thread is ongoing primarily because a boomer loves talking about lawn care

And he is beloved and successful. Maybe boomers just have the right values?
