For instance I don't like the Stones but that's not why I think it's a bad list. It's a bad list because it includes many bizarre one time wonders from random eras like they were trying to pay homage to some subculture for their approval. For instance Wilco and Franz Ferdinand aren't considered great by most rock fans even if you like that band. But to me the author or committee was basically saying we need to throw in a certain number from every era for it to be credible. So it's like they just picked something at random that could have been anything rather than a consensus pick. And then of course it's heavily weighted towards stuff boomers like which again feeds into why the Millennial bands are seemingly random. Many to most of the bands on there probably belong there. Some of the ordering is weird. I think on second thought I agree Oasis probably doesn't belong there. I like them but only a few songs. There are a bunch on here I don't really like at all too but they probably belong due to influence/popularity. It's impossible to make a perfect list. If you aren't just doing your personal list you have to pretend that it's Balanced and culturally appropriate. I don't want to put Metallica on a list of best bands, but they influenced an entire genre of music and had tremendous far-reaching influence.
