do economists ever generally agree on a future prediction and turn out to be right? the entire field is buoyed by the fact that there is always at least one of them right about most things but they aren't actually doing science and just making shit up so they can never agree

They all agree that communism causes breadlines now. They even think they predicted it.

yes, they are very good at going backwards and describing what happened while making up reasons but it never results in a predictive model and you end up with that Burry guy becoming famous because the entire field can't spot the biggest bubble in history

The breadlines at the tail end of the USSR were caused by the introduction of market pricing for trucking services in an economy with no credit system. People couldn't pay truckers. Truckers wouldn't work. Good literally rotted. Soviets fixed for that by threatening death and labor camps for refusing to work but then Gorby got all civilized and stopped enforcing Soviet labor laws.

Yeah it only happened one time in the history of the USSR. That's why it was a big deal. If communism caused breadlines, Russians would have been used to them by the 1980s.

No breadlines under Stalin. If you lined up like that they would beat you within and inch of your life. You starved quietly..

By the 1980s things were supposed to be on the up and up. Ivan Drago nearly beat Rocky to death. Russia and Cuba conquered the continental USA in Red Dawn just a few years earlier. They should have made a Red Dawn 2 where Russia has breadlines and collapses while occupying Kansas.

USSR did a lot of amazing things, was competing directly in science and tech and military. It's per capita and GINI was quite good, no one talks abt this. They pretend it was North Korea but even North Korea actually isn't that bad, USSR was a lot better. Americans are brainwashed faggots, so its difficult to even have a convo

They decoded the Mayan script almost 40 years before Americans did it. We couldn't correspond with their academics at that time so no one in the U.S. knew about it until after the wall came down.
