it started with severe depression where i would lie in bed all day, but these days it's more moderate. i can function well enough to hold down a WFH job. but i still have many of the symptoms of depression.
here's what i've tried:
therapy
SSRIs
antipsychotics instead of SSRIs (never again)
daily exercise
eating healthy
"journaling"
various supplements
spending time outside every day
Ritalin
spending time in nature
other shit i can't think of right now
nothing really helps. low energy, persistent anhedonia, suicidal ideation by the end of the day, etc.

Virtual Reality
there's "depression" among "normal" people and then there is recognition of our malignantly useless reality. there's no cure for the latter so the only salve is to seek out Other Worlds (imho ymmv).

Psilocybin. This is also more effective if you develop a meditation practice.

Depression's everywhere because our culture normalized tons of stuff that quietly wrecks you. Most of it seems normal, so no one questions it. Here's a YouTube video that breaks it down better than I could, might be worth checking out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQUfx-L1Avc
If nothing's worked, maybe you never got to the actual cause. Most people journal wrong, they vent but don't ask hard questions. Try cutting out whatever drains you and figure out what's missing. That's usually where the real problem is.
Try this:
Dopamine detox
Silence and time alone (no phone)
Brutally honest journaling
Fewer stimulants, more walks
Cold showers
Dig into childhood stuff (seriously)
That's all. Take it or leave it.
