i'm 38, 6 ft 1 inch, and around 240 lbs. i have a lanky build, and 240 lbs is way too much for me. i have a disgusting gut that's so big it hangs down.
i literally can't cut calories. if i cut out 300 calories today, i will wake up in the middle of the night feeling starved and binge on anything to make up for that minor calorie deficit. the more i cut, the hungrier i wake up.
i exercise daily -- 40 minutes of moderate intensity biking, or brisk walking for about two hours. i bike when work is busier and i don't have as much free time, but i exercise every single day no matter what.
i don't think there's a single factor behind this. i think there are many: stress, anxiety, no social life, mild depression, psychiatric placebo pills that are supposed to be "weight neutral," too much time in front of screens, giving up, age making it more difficult to lose weight, and other shit i can't think of at the moment.
please tell me i'm a fat lazy fuck. i doubt any suggestions here will help.

Are you sleeping normally? My 800-1000 calorie binges are when I’m up late working and tired/bored/pissed off/procrastinating. Fucking awful cycle. If you have control over what’s in your house, just don’t buy whatever you’re binging on. You can’t eat it if it’s not there. Buy carrots and celery and hummus and edamame if you must have snacks around.
Track your calories if you need someone to beat you with a stick. You can even just take a pic of your slop and send it to ChatGPT and tell it to keep track and yell at you.
