I was listening to SRV for the first time in years the other day. Hope I didn't cause all of this.

We know one of the missing girls. It’s sad. God can strike at any moment. I keep thinking about how when we send our kids to camp we get them all hyped up and talk about it in the months leading up and pat ourselves on the back for being good parents who give their kids these kind of experiences. And her family felt the same. Now dead. And there’s nothing you could have done different.

At least the camp director died. Can’t imagine having to go on living after losing two dozen of your campers.

No, it’s sad and tragic all around. Dying in one of God’s floods must be horrifying beyond belief. We all need to hold our loved ones close and be thankful today and everyday hereafter.

Tbh I’d be a lot less horrified by that than I would be by, say, getting oidnapped by feral niggers, forced to drive to atms to withdraw cash for hours, then assraped and shot in the back of the head in some remote vacant lot.

with the flood I would feel right with God when I died

This concert is the single greatest sustained guitar performance of all time. What's crazy and sad is that SRV did a ton of these small venue gigs all the time, most of which weren't recorded.

Poor children. May God grant their parents patience and peace.

In the end of the song, when he can't get through to his baby, the narrator goes to heaven. It's actually a very fitting song for this situation.

Wife just told me that someone she knew on Facebook has been found deceased. His wife and two children still missing. The last daughter, 8 years old, was away at a summer camp and is physically safe, but may have lost her entire family.

a few years ago i stayed in an airbnb at a long-term RV park in ingram. the locals were super prole, drink bud light all day and night types. the rent was dirt cheap and they had been there for years. i had a great time, they were a lot of fun. they're probably all dead. they knew about flood prep of course but this one seems to have come out of nowhere.

also, there was a much bigger RV park next door that was more of a weekend spot, didn't have any long-term residents. i bet they were packed for the 4th and a bunch of them didn't make it.

god damn found it on airbnb:

They probably all claimed to be “flood-ready” before yesterday.

they had made it through several floods before but this was really unexpected. also, truth is they were probably sound asleep drunk from pre-partying for the 4th. when they woke up they were already moving.
