A man was shot and seriously injured after an Aurora homeowner found him breaking into a detached garage, police officials said Monday.
The shooting happened at around 4:49 a.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Moline Street, the Aurora Police Department said in a release. The man was then taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The homeowner reported a similar break in Sunday when about $400 worth of items were stolen from the garage, Aurora police said. He then installed cameras, which alerted him to the break in Monday morning. After the homeowner confronted the man breaking into his garage, they got into a fight and the homeowner shot him.
Aurora police do not anticipate criminal charges in the case but will present the investigation to the district attorney’s office, the department said.
