Middle East is a big area and most of it isn't worth visiting.

Dubai is worth going to for 2-3 days, and then you could spent another 2-3 days in Fujairah or Khorfakkan. Oman is nice and I highly recommend.

I have zero desire to go to Israel, Egypt, or Saudi.

there are interesting historical sites to see in the parts that border the Mediterranean.

but the weather, the people, and the human environment are awful.

I know some yachties who had a blast taking a trip from Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Algiers, and Tunis. They were young, in a cheap boat, and it was like 2005, so your mileage may vary. Also… I’m aware that this isn’t really the mid east.
