Best food will be at 1-Star places that look unimpressive inside. The 2/3 star ratings come more from service and ambiance feeling than food quality.

Ambiance, decor and service quality are not considered at all, so this post is completely wrong.

“One star signifies "a very good restaurant," two stars mean "excellent cooking, worth a detour," and three stars indicate "exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey"

Second and third stars are earned more for the overall experience (creativity, plating, innovation, and yes, ambiance) and consistency rather than simply being tastier. The less pretentious one-stars are pretty much guaranteed to be bangers, while the two and three star places can try to do too much

With that said, the best beef I've ever had was at a 3 star, and the best fish I've ever had was at a three star, but the best lamb I've ever had was at a no star

The criteria specifically state that ambiance and service are not considered. There are loads of mediocre to shit 1 stars. While not all 2-3 are bangers, pretty much all of the best worldwide meals i’ve had have been at 3s.

The extremely loosely connected gimmick was, "We'll set up a map of places you should travel on your Michelin tires to go eat."

Right but it was in france in early 20th century.

Pretty brilliant, but certainly a portent of gc excess to come.

Better yet, go to restaurants who lost stars due to out of the kitchen incidents.
