I'm shocked more people aren't terrified about this

I'm effectively priced out of a computer upgrade and absolutely need it for my overemployment.

I’m looking to get back into PC gaming after decades, in order to be able to play with my kids. Should I just hurry up and build some 5090 monster and call it good for the next decade? Or preorder a steam machine two seconds after they release?

U could go the 5090 route like I did. Decided this will be my last pc for at least ten years.

But 90% of games don't need this and ur more than fine with like half the power so long as ur not gonna host ur own llm or do stable diffusion

I have a nice 4K monitor and want to be able to run games at solid 4K settings (with or without DLSS, I don’t play competitive multiplayer stuff, just pretty single player games) at reasonably high frame rates.

So… 5070, 5080, 5090? And 32 or 64 gb? Ryzen 9950X3d? Assume I’m willing to spend $5K if the machine will actually perform well for about a decade. It doesn’t seem like we’re getting 8K anytime soon…

if u really want it go 5090, imo when buying a computer its better to just go all in since its not something you buy every year and i always end up being disappointed when i skimp on my computer at some point

as a side note i see essentially no difference between my 5090 now and what i had before (forget what it was but it was a mid high range pc), although i know some of u dorks can totally see the difference or whatever, also im still using my same monitor that at 165hz, which may influence it but i had a 4k and the difference felt so negligible that i just returned the 4k monitor

Are you running inference on your 5090 or do you have a whole separate setup for that

The greatest upgrade to video game graphics, by far, that I’ve experienced in 15 years was when I got some $5 Target reading glasses.

Same with audio. Getting my ears professionally cleaned made my wholly pedestrian headphones sound suddenly amazing.

I’m coming from an Xbox Series X, a Steam Deck, and some old hand-me-down gaming pc with an Radeon 580 that my kids have toyed with through the years.

The ongoing DRAM supercycle has made suppliers the "king of the jungle", since the industry is now a seller's market, according to a report by DigiTimes. It is reported that with soaring memory contract prices, producers like Samsung and SK hynix are now only looking to sign LTAs with companies that are mainstream in the PC industry. Companies like Lenovo, Dell, Apple, and ASUS are primary beneficiaries when it comes to getting capacity from memory suppliers, given that they control most of the OEM supply chain. For smaller vendors, this means massive trouble.
