ignoring all of the gay shit i think the shot w the horse on the beach was really epic

made me think maybe the movie would be really well shot but that was the only memorable scene imo

we don't really know what the Phenotypes would've been like back then. by all accounts people were Short and sometimes fucked their relatives, resulting in incestuous brood.

Nolan worked with Elliot Page in the past. He felt bad for zher and gave zher a small role in the Film. It isn't that big of a deal. Why do "conservatives" always have to zero in on small acts of generosity as if it is the most heinous dereliction of duty. It makes them seem like not serious debaters imo.

I'm just mad he included EMILY WILSON'S shit pure shit translation instead of lattimore or pope in the beginning. "Complicated man" is an affront to the proem.

The Odysseus from Philoctetes would make such a great movie Odysseus. Brutally cynical and pragmatic and convinced that God is backing him up. What a wasted opportunity of an Odyssey movie for Nolan to fill it with American mindsets instead of the cruel and alien ancient Greeks. OTOH, Homer's cyclops is basically proto-American.

Interesting comparison with the philoctetes. Yeah, even thinking about what would appeal to my sensibilities, what would just be interesting and compelling, Odysseus should be both preternaturally clever in a charming way and brutally cunning in an alien, more bronze age or nietzschean way. They could have conveyed a bit of this by including his slaughter of the faithless maids at the beginning. Even if nolan just had to go with the ptsd reading, that would have balanced it out and added some actual complication to the character.

I'm not even mad it's feminist, it's just a shitty translation. Poetry world tore her apart for her quality as an artist, and she pretended it was just the alt right (whatever that means in 2926) being mean to her on twitter.

Good news, she’s making a fortune thanks to the film.

Sales of her translation went from 1000 per year to 1 million plus.
