realized how fucked i was after i graduated. bounced around between temp jobs at ID firms, i couldn;'t even get an ID job. i finally got one and the guy paid me $25 per BILLED hour and i was a contractor. i really thought i was life pwnd.
unbelievable that i eventually worked my way up to biglaw from that. but yeah, 2006-2007, either of those years could easily be the worst. by far. |

in late 2007 i got a job with a solo who did L&E (primarily traditional labor) and happened to take to it. in 2009, we hired a law clerk who was a 2L who'd gotten an offer from a regional bmore firm but the offer was rescinded bc of ITE.
he worked for us a few months and we kept in touch. he wound up at a baltimore firm called miles & stockbridge - basically, regional midlaw. the solo had to lay me off bc he lost a big client at the end of 2011 and the law clerk got me in at miles. i went from there to jackson lewis (ttt L&E firm), and from there to baker hostetler, where i wound up making partner. |

Date: January 28th, 2026 1:47 PM Author: Supple school Eventually. Big break was an in-house job at a F50 that an adjunct professor I emailed recommended me for. Made contacts and got skills there and eventually did 5 years as a counsel/NEP at a lower tier V100 before going back in-house (at a fund now).
Not sure what the path is without that initial break. Definitely threw as much work as i could to the adjunct professor (who was a V20 Biglaw partner). |
