staying with my parents in the suburbs this weekend, and it's fucking unbearable. from morning to night i hear landscaping work, or power washing, or some other stupid loud shit noise. i keep my old bike at their house and went out for a bike ride yesterday. wanted to take a break in a park but there were more fucking lawn mowers killing the otherwise peaceful park.

i don't want to be a lawncuck, wasting my time mowing a lawn and doing landscaping work. my dad is doing some sort of maintenance on the house nearly every week from what i gather. and their house isn't even that nice.

my lease is ending soon, and my parents are telling me to buy at house at my age (35), but i don't want any of this home owner bullshit to deal with. what is the Cr thing to do here? keep renting? buy a condo and hope the neighbors aren't assholes? become homeless and live on southern California beaches?

i'm severely mentally ill, but i refuse to buy into the lawncuck-house-maintenance lifestyle GC seems to push.

is this typically allowed? i know the suburb my parents live in has some lawn police that will put up a warning sign and i think fine you eventually if you don't mow your lawn.

Buy a house in an area with small lot sizes and little to no lawn, or a pool that takes up the entire back yard. Much of LA is like this.

Pay someone to do the lawn….. he’s a Product Manager and can easily afford it imo.

i don't want a lawn to begin with. even if i pay someone to do it, i still have to hear the mower, blowers, trimmers, and whatever else they use. my current apartment is in a high-rise, and i can barely even hear police sirens.

also i'm an Engineering Manager. i codecucked for nearly 10 hours Friday because one of my direct reports has been out sick. PM jobs are too scare and too hard to land.

most UMC suburbs don't even have sidewalks. the one I grew up in did but it was an early development inner ring that is populated with Scum.

Huge divide between MC and UMC is mowing your own lawn versus hiring a landscaping service.

part of why you think the suburbs are annoying is because your only time spent there is having annoying disputes with your parents there, right? they're pretty chill. but yeah if you're single and trying to meet someone being in a city like chicago seems like the right play to me (and absolutely yes, in an apt where you have good sound and light)
