Fixed expenses of $2,000/mo (property taxes, utilities, internet, streaming, etc.)

I have low cost healthcare because I'm 1/8 indigenous.

I plan on retiring on approximately 8K/month with no mortgage. If you can't retire with six figures yearly, debt free, you're doing something seriously wrong.

I turn 49 next week, and I'm done with it all.

Hopefully retirement amount will go up when I turn 62, if SS is still a thing. I don't know how, but I think I've maed it. Frugal inceldom for the W.

Retiring that early with that much cash really only leaves you vulnerable to catastrophic medical expenses. If you have good insurance you should be ok.

Can you explain how that really works? I have Health insurance as part of my job but never go to doctors.. so they pay for nothing.. I'm thinking of going 1099. Could I rely on just going abroad for Healthcare? Like malaysia?

health insurance is basically for

a. pre-negotiated rates. if you're a cash payer, the first bill you get will be based on the hospital's outrageous book rate for a procedure.

b. catastrophic coverage. if you have to go for surgery, cancer, etc the bills, based on those inflated rate cards, will take almost anyone into bankruptcy

Yeah I know that. In countries like Malaysia you get A+ insurance/hospital for 1/10 the price. So if you're going to retire why not pick a country like Malaysia for your health home. You just happen to be fucked if you get a heart attack while in usa. But then you're fucked anyway. Most people don't really survive a heart attack.

the better question is how fucking retarded would you have to be not to? That is a very decent amount of money but not enough to suggest that you are on the verge of making tens of millions of dollars, which you would have to do to meaningfully change your life

Current monthly expenses are about $3,500-4,000. I eat out a lot, and if I were retired, I'd probably cook more often.

No wife or kids

I think I'll travel more, averaged out over the course of the year, I think my budget would be 6,000/mo. I'm trying to find reasons not to retire and I'm shooting blanks.

I'll probably golf more, or maybe find some new hobbies.

Only if it were guaranteed to increase with inflation. We probably will resort to hyperinflation to get out of our looming debt crisis.

Doctors haven't had any increase in Medicare payments since 2008. So any inflation brings doctors closer to taxi drivers. The only way for me to make it is invest in inflation adjusted assets like Amazon and bitcoin(too late)
