They weren’t even from San Fran, they just mysteriously moved up there from LA and bogarted the whole scene.
The only reason anyone ever heard of them is that Lars’s dad somehow got them on some metal compilation album. |

The first time I saw them live they were so bad I thought maybe they were sick or the road crew were all junkies, but then I saw them two more times and they still sucked, so I think it was all studio trickery until Bob Rock showed us what they really sound like. James always looked weird in a gay way too. The way he talked to the audience was so fake and stupid you could tell he was putting up a wall. He sounded like a professional wrestler, not a real person. And if you think that's Kirk at the end of Jump in the Fire, he must have been 10x better on guitar at age 21 than at any time since.
