I think the main benefit it will have for society will be coping with idiocracy - we can get by with much fewer brilliant people because they will just have to supervise AI.
It will be huge in allowing new tech startups and letting them do business in cheap areas outside of Silicon Valley. Just get a core of several geniuses and they can use AI to do things cheaply without having to hire a stable of entry-level tech workers.
