Why do you think math doesn't solve it?

Usually people are like duh convergent infinite series *hand wave*

I've never found that convincing

Math does "solve" it in the sense that, mathematically, you can deduce that an infinite series of points in time gets you to a finite result. But that could reflect a failure of mathematics. It's not proof of anything since mathematics is all symbolic.

It's the one Aristotle discusses, and it gets held out as an example of his thinking all the time. 2,400 years later Caltech can barely explain this shit better than Aristotle. Many physicists still think Aristotle was right. If time is like like a series of cells in a movie film roll, how can an arrow move between cells? How can you have motion without a mover?

Creation of time isn't the issue. The issue is how an arrow can have velocity if time consists of discrete moments, and if at any given moment the arrow is at rest in one place.

I understand the math, that's not the problem. We know intuitively that arrows penetrate their targets before we even learn the math.

Maybe write the top physicists a letter to this effect; they probably will welcome input from someone not from what is traditionally called "the field," as they never get this type of idea from outsiders.

He has a PhD and a web site!

"James went on to study mathematics at Lancaster university. He was attracted by the challenge of the analytical and creative thought required in a maths degree, but it was probably the lack of essays and reading list he found most attractive. Later, James went to York university with the aim of getting a PhD and avoiding the real world for at least another three years. He was successful on both counts.

After working in research in combinatorics and group theory, James joined the Millennium Mathematics Project from the University of Cambridge. On their behalf James ran The Enigma Project, with the aim to bring mathematics to life through the fascinating history and mathematics of codes and code breaking. Spies! Secrets! And secret messages!"

PS Planck units seem to exist and they solve the paradox, kind of. We measured black body radiation and found a Planck unit of difference between theoretical black bodies and real ones

The arrow paradox is only problematic if you assume that time is equal to the sum of an infinite number of indivisible points, which is what Zeno was attempting to refute. We know from Cantor diagonalization that a continuous collection of points can't be ordered, therefore Zeno's hypothesis is false.

It's less a 'paradox' about motion than the concept of infinity generally. Consider: every rod has infinite length because it can be regarded as the infinite sum of increasingly small pieces! In either case, the conclusion proven by contradiction is that infinity doesn't exist or, at least, is useless as an explanatory concept for everyday reasoning. Oh, and notice that the 'solution' to the 'paradox' requires nothing like 'calculus' or anything fancy.

In other news and words, the 'great thinkers' of the past were actual retards by today's standards and are of limited and overrated utility.

Here's my solution: time is like those iPhone "live photos" where there a little bit of motion in the photo. It's fallacious to assume there's no motion occurring within discreet units of time because we have no evidence of it and it creates a "paradox" to think of it that way
