Unpopular take: “Going out to eat” is a SEVERELY overrated activity.

Being freed from the drudgery of having to plan, shop, prep, cook, serve, eat, clean up, and store leftovers a few times/week is worth a lot, man. Being able to focus and enjoy for 30-90 minutes with the fam vs. swallowing food in 5 mins and having a mess to deal with.
We typically go out for Indian or Chinese or something we’re not going to make at home (and we’re not going to stupidly add $150 of booze to).
I agree that costs have gone up rapidly, and it is *at least* $150 when we go as a family with our two kids, but I ljl at supermarkets now, too. Don’t remember the prior time I was down the canned soup aisle, but I was recently when looking for hot sauce and soup is $5 now for some Progresso industra-slop. I firmly remember them being $1.49 to $1.99. Not sure when this happened
