These weren’t events. They were warnings. Markers on a road leading somewhere worse. Columbine wasn’t the end of innocence. It was the birth of performance. Harris wanted to direct. He saw it all as a Film. He story-boarded it. He left quotes. He named his guns. He left behind instructions like a cruel god of some private, cracked religion. Klebold followed him like a disciple. People watched. Then they forgot. Then they watched again when it happened in another town. Another name. Another soft-faced boy with dark ideas and a long gun. 1999 was the signal flare. People thought it meant revolution. It meant decay.
The future wasn’t flying cars. It was kids turning schools into tombs, movies into cash grabs, and death into content.
We were warned. And we laughed. And we kept going.
