You had a red jacket hanging on the back of my chair
Said “dynasties last forever,” said it like a prayer
September felt endless, confetti in my head
But by December even legends miss a third-and-ten
They said, “Love’s bigger than a win-loss sheet”
But try telling that to a girl raised on belief
I don’t break promises, I break patterns
I don’t leave when it’s hard, I leave when it’s sad
I was ready for rings, white dress, hometown chatter
But you can’t spell forever with a six-and-eight collapse
So I’m calling it now, before overtime matters
I loved you when you flew, not when you crashed
We planned the aisle like a victory parade
But the magic faded faster than your third-string fade
I cheered through the interceptions, I stayed through the rain
But I won’t marry a season that forgot how to play
You kept saying, “Babe, it’s just one down year”
But I’ve heard that lie from every cornerback fear
I don’t break promises, I break patterns
I don’t leave when it’s loud, I leave when it’s flat
I was ready for rings, red scarf, gold banners
But I can’t build a life on a highlight that’s past
So I’m calling it now, before hope turns sarcastic
I loved you in the climb, not the stat
Maybe it’s shallow, maybe it’s cruel
But I’ve learned love shouldn’t feel like Week Twelve in a doom scroll
I don’t need perfect, I don’t need invincible
I just need someone who still looks unstoppable
I don’t break promises, I break patterns
I don’t ghost—I wave goodbye with grace
I was ready for forever, framed in platinum
But forever shouldn’t feel like a rebuilding phase
So keep the jersey, keep the town’s belief
I’ll keep my name off another defeat
You’ll find someone who loves the fall
I just don’t marry teams that stall
