The cop who initially shot Pretti only drew his weapon when he VISUALLY SAW that the suspect had a firearm. But this cop did not SEE the Man In Grey disarm the suspect. The Grey Man takes Pretti's gun, turns around, walks away from the group, and DISCHARGES the suspect's SIG P320 at the ground.

The Cop SAW the suspects gun, but did not see it REMOVED. Then he HEARD a discharge coming from 'somewhere'. At this point he aimed and fired.

In the fog of war after a physical struggle it's impossible to say with any certainty oh I could 100% prevent a ND. It's totally unclear. It does appear to be some sort of accident. Grey Man is pointing the barrel down, he's trying to get away from the scrum, the shot throws him off guard. Shit happens. In situations like this expect the unpredictable to unfold.
The more important point though is you can tell the first cop to fire at Pretti had his backed turned to Grey Man and didn't see any of this. He heard the shot, then fired. Case closed. |
