Comparing a Cayman S to a 911 the price gap isn't that big, especially used. I liked the last mid-engined car I had (Mk2 MR2 turbo) a lot, and the Cayman is supposed to handle better than the 911 anyway. ~300hp is more than enough for street driving.

I live in a city so nobody I know really sees my car anyway so don't really care what people think.

I guess you have a point. I could afford a 911, but just seems like a waste of money. You're saying the only thing it does better is let people know I could afford it? Seems dumb.

does the new Boxster S have the same powertrain as the Cayman S? On the 987 generation they made the Boxster weaker for some reason.

I'm not sure player

But there was a reasonable debate that the new Boxter S was more fun than the 911. I've only driven the 2002 Boxster S. I had an absolute ball flying through the Pine Barrens of NJ.

I guess the simple answer is test drive both, but make sure to try the Boxster S on a nice day.

I've driven one once.

Very nice car. Plenty of power. GREAT brakes. I'd have no problem taking one over a 911 for the cost-savings. I'd much rather put the extra cash into a nice sedan for daily use.

Protip: The Cayman S is a great car and arguably a better sports car than the 911 which, at least since it entered the water-cooled era, is much more a grand tourer. The marketers at Porsche are *afraid* of the Cayman's potential effect on the value perception of the 911 and have restrained Porsche engineers ever since the model was released because it's well know that, given the right engine, a Cayman would easily outperform a 911 on the same track. The "creep" is already happening: a second gen Cayman S with PDK is basically running as fast as a Carrera / Carrera 4.

If you buy a car to get women you are doing it wrong. First, don’t ever show a woman a nice car before you fuck her. Second, you buy a car to enjoy driving it yourself. Third, road head is overrated and it is much better in a beater $500 truck with a bench seat.

"If you buy a car to get women you are doing it wrong."

d. chappelle: if men could fuck women in a cardboard box, i wouldnt buy a house

"First, don’t ever show a woman a nice car before you fuck her."

my car is in all my profiles. absolutely nothing wrong with pumping and dumping gold diggers

"second, you buy a car to enjoy driving it yourself."

something i enjoy very much, but a secondary benefit to the primary one: pussy

"Third, road head is overrated"

not when you have 17-20 year old girls giving said road head

"[road head is] much better in a beater $500 truck with a bench seat."

TBD as i have never owned a truck

Got my wife one of these. She STRONGLY preferred her VW Atlas. Found that sale options are for roughly two-thirds of what we paid for it a year and small change ago (admittedly, a lot of miles for a year).

Now have an unused porsche cayenne soaking up insurance premiums, sitting undriven in the driveway, like I'm a mexican.
