to sit reasonably comfortably without being in severe pain for at least a day afterwards. I saw a guy who looked about 6'2" sitting in regular coach the other day, and he had to spread his legs open just to sit.

I do a ton of 1.5-to-2.5-hour flights and you can regularly cop first for like an additional hundred bucks on top of economy.

IMO you'd be fucking certifiably insane to not pay this. You never know when you're going to be stuck on the tarmac for an extra hour or what have you.

Anything under 3 hours domestic the Exit Row is fine if a complimentary upgrade doesn't clear but as others noted in most cases domestic F is barely more than econ and it's not worth sweating the upgrade, or even if you buy coach they'll try to sell you a cheap upgrade after the fact. I think i've flown in a coach exit row maybe 3 times in the last 2 years.

How to choose an airline to be loyal to for status? I hate that AA has no screens on domestic flight, but delta honestly seems ghetto as hell now in domestic. Also, people say American is less reliable than delta but I'm not buying it. AA seems a lot better from NYC.

Combo of factors AA flies almost everywhere I want to go direct from NYC. They also have a lot of flights out of LGA which I hugely prefer over JFK and slightly prefer over EWR. They still have the best award chart in the game with useful partners (JAL F JFK-TYO for 80k miles for example), LMAO at other airline charts. They have good partners but not the best (Star Alliance prob best). Most importantly you can earn 1LP/$1 spend on AA branded cards so you can technically keep top tier status simply by using your ccard without even flying. This allows me to shift more flying to most convenient route/time even if it's not a OneWorld partner, while still retaining status and finally the SWU is extremely useful. Other airlines will either require you buy a higher fare bucket or have extremely limited avail, with the SWU and the frequency of flights between NYC and London, I can on almost any day buy a basic econ ticket to London for like $300, apply a SWU and travel in business. I just booked an AA fare MUC-LHR-JFK for $316 and applied the "free" SWU to turn both legs into biz flights.

I always fly first - if I die in a crash I'm going to go out comfortably.
