The Xmas special was typical dumb 70s variety show dreck, no better or worse than similar programming of the era. Date: June 7th, 2025 3:58 AM Author: Boyish Karate Jap yeah true and sci fi originals from that era were all pretty fun. they only started getting lame after the "Syfy" rebrand//marketers trying to capitalize on the fandom for these things with phony OK cola irony "we're cool too" etc. the original sharknado was on the cusp of that era's advent this was 2005 but i remembered this existed during dinner one night and began chuckling to myself for the rest of the meal: "Attack of the Sabertooth" https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0443334/ 180 B movie the sci fi originals are actually really hard to find now, at least as of the last time i looked for safe download options. i wish i would've burnt more of them to disc |

Date: June 7th, 2025 4:03 AM Author: Boyish Karate Jap got into lawrence welk reruns this last year and found him to be quite the accordion expert and a charismatic showman to boot folkish stuff like polka can't really ever be "dated" anyway. in germany much of the non-urban CDU base tunes into polka/folk/waltz lawrence welk type programs on the regular; was surprised to see there was such a wide following for it the muppets specials (that i've seen) are all high quality and just as funny today as they were ten years ago or probably fourty years ago as well. that show and jim henson's stuff in general has aged extremely well |
