Here's the deal: you're an investigator called to the local mayor's court late at night. It turns out the Korean ambassador was found dead in the courtyard, in a grotto beneath a waterfall, and his bodyguard (also Korean) is pissed. You need to prevent this from blowing up into a serious diplomatic incident, as the mayor himself is already old and the Koreans have been stirring up trouble along the coast.
When I left off I had discovered that someone put opium in the candles to make witnesses fall asleep while ambassador was killed, but the houseworker who was responsible for lighting the candles had just hung herself out of guilt. There's a locked chest I need to get into and I have the key, but I wasn't sure if I should just leave the dead lady there like that and make the chest a priority, or whether I should notify someone that I found a corpse. |

Part of the issue is gaining the bodyguard's trust. He passed out from the opium too and doesn't know what happened, and he's naturally mistrustful of you. You have to reassure him that you don't work for the mayor, you're an independent investigator, and you have to do something to prove your sincerity to him. |
