Afterwards they pretended like it was nbd because he told me to loop in a notoriously shitty and slow 1st year who added next to nothing, blaming me for working too much: “You didn’t need to do this all yourself, you had X working with you, didn’t you? Shouldn’t have been that much work over the holiday.” Shitty associate also billed a bunch of hours but didn’t ease the workload at all, ofc. |

Please confirm you that you spoke with him yesterday about this project, and please confirm that you will provide the research to him this weekend.
We have a draft response due to the client tomorrow late afternoon (before she heads out of the country), and he promised me an initial draft of the brief mid-day tomorrow.
It's been a minute since I've researched the salient issues, but suspect this response brief will require several hours of research, at minimum, so want to make sure you're entirely in the loop, sooner than later.
I appreciate your willingness to jump on this research assignment over a holiday weekend. It's not normally like this here - our Firm values work-life balance. I recommend that you take some time off around New Year's to make up for this.

i get an email at 6 PM on thursday night (12/23) from Jewish equity partner (I am a non-equity partner) while at family Christmas party. "Where is draft of X?" "uh, there isn't a deadline for X now that the Court granted our motion" "I don't care, I expected a draft this morning" "well, I'm out of pocket for the next hour. I'll get you the draft tonight" [haven't even assessed X to know if this is possible] "well, I'd like some family time the next two days too." [hanukkah ended three weeks ago, Mort]
fortunately X was pretty easy and I got a nice email from Mort at 10 AM on Christmas Eve copying the whole team saying "Nice job on this." I then worked until 5 PM on Christmas Eve getting signoff from everyone on our team and conferring with opposing.
I did not work on Christmas itself but billed 2 hours today on the aftermath. |
