The training data is filtered, curated, de-duped and shaped to avoid legal landmines, ethical controversy, political sensitivity, "conspiracy" adjacent ideas, culturally taboo material, and anything that could trigger headlines. So we have entire clusters of ideas that are underrepresented, flattened, or excluded completely from models.
The token space is skewed toward what is safe, acceptable and normatively sanctioned. But as we all know from decades poasting on this shithole, for better or for worse, many of the most powerful, dangerous, transformative ideas sit on the boundary of acceptability and require risky anaologies and demand counter narrative framing |
