That's the area by the Ryman auditorium, the hockey stadium and all the Broadway bars. Very scummy almost New Orleans vibes with lots of police presence all the time. My last employer held an annual board meeting there as they have a big presence in the city. The directors would take shuttle buses from their $1000 a night hotel to the office all of 500 yards from the hotel just to avoid the homeless bums. Nashville has great BBQ and the suburbs are really nice but the downtown is third world like most of America's business districts now. Charlotte is much, much worse. Minneapolis is similar but with vastly shittier restaurants and for some reason we kept our entire private credit business there and one of the MDs made a billion dollar bonus in 2023 and didnt even leave so Minneapolis has a stealth billionaire now whose name nobody knows.
