Had King Triton any sense he would have hired a sea-lawyer who could have easily invalidated the contract on the basis of Ariel's incapacity to contract - she clearly states she is 16. That's in addition to Ursula's breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing when she seduces Erik.
If Prince Erik wasn't there to thankfully attempt to arrest Ursula for trespassing in Royal waters (and subsequently killing Ursula for resisting arrest), Ariel & King Triton would be in a lot of trouble.
Moral of The Little Mermaid: hire a lawyer when you have legal trouble. |
