terrible hypo, they would lose every game by mercy rule in the first inning unless somehow one of the poasters is a former college pitcher and still under ~35

Oh yeah if one of them was a former college pitcher and under 35 XO would TOTALLY have a chance at not getting mercy ruled by the first inning. Mediocre Tufts pitchers struck out Tatis Jr all the time nbd.

We'd still have to field and record put outs bro. I was a decent HS baseball player, I'm confident I could start for the xo trumpmos, and we'd have 0.0% chance to win.

100%

We may not have the finesse or skill but we would play dirty as fuck, throwing high, hard, and inside, sliding feet first with cleats up, etc. Sooner or later we'd hurt enough dudes to take a forfeit.

Here's another hypo: take the median Cy Young winner ovet the last 20 years. How much would having xoxo poasters field for him increase his ERA?

I know a retired former All-Star hurler. Maybe he could train me. If my life depended on it I could probably pitch once every 5 days. If you can throw 85 consistently and with location you could probably pitch 4-5 scoreless innings a couple times in a full season.

I don't think that's possible. I think my era would be like 7 or 8. I said in a whole season I might go scoreless a couple of times.

There are dozens of MLB pitchers with 7 ERA who throw mid 90s with sick sliders etc. Ur ERA would be infinite because you would never record an out. You also don't "throw 85 consistently" and if ur "pitches" ever got near the strike zone, every player in the league would launch them 400 feet

Not true. Tell me you know nothing about baseball without telling me you know nothing about baseball. Position players sometimes pitch in blowout games and they record outs. They don’t practice pitching. In this hypothetical the pitchers would be training. No doubt they will get some outs and if they string together enough they might win a game or two. Will this team lose 150 games? Yes but they might win a couple by pure luck

I agree it might be a possible to win a game or two.

College teams usually get blown out in spring training but sometimes they keep the score under 10

This. Bald lawyer takes Braves closer deep after the closer accidentally leaves a 98 mph fastball over the plate and rounds the bases with a Torts book as the XO team clinches the Wild Card birth. “Yeah I think with a few years practice we can definitely luck into a wild card spot. I mean that’s three now!”

Those "position players" almost always pitched in high school, college, or the minors. They aren't just putting random dudes on the mound.
