They moved the Surface team to Xbox and cut the Surface division down, now they are posting job openings seeking ARM devs for Xbox too. The handheld will have a 5G antenna that allows it to tap in Azure resources for Cloud Compute and will also be formidable in its own right with an energy efficient cpu/gpu.

tldr: it’s over Sony

After losing to Sony their new strategy is to try and take on Nintendo? I’m sure this will end well…

No it will output to a display at higher res and more frames than Sony could ever dream of. You’re finished.

Switch 2 rubs Cyberpunk better than Series S and it’s a portable. The thing is a beast and will be supported by exclusive Nintendo first party games.

The next gen is going to be held back to some extent because a lot of publishers are going to want to make sure that they can release a Swotch 2 version of their games.

There are ways of mitigating that somewhat, such as NVIDIA Reflex. And it’s not like that would be a huge obstacle. Sony and Nintendo’s online networks have more latency than MSFT/Geforce cloud. Especially Nintendo, their network infrastructure is ruinous.

This is the chip it's expected to run. I've been saying for the longest time you don't need more than 4 CPU cores to run Windows.

https://www.amd.com/en/products/processors/handhelds/ryzen-z-series/z2-series/z2-go.html

This device looks like Microsoft's attempt to keep their ecosystem relevant to gamers. SteamOS is a Linux distro, and Valve is trying to move everything over to Linux. The only thing we know for sure is this won't be a Linux device. It will be Windows running on 4 cores, the way it was meant to be.

Microsoft isn't Linux-averse. They built an entire Linux subsystem for Windows. ARM would be a better choice than another middling AMD APU.
