Bluesky seems to be down on the new season. Is this show not cool anymore?

I only know about Prestige TV through osmosis.

Like I remember True Detective was cool and then it had a Bad Season and it wasn’t anymore.

Seen it all. Season 2 was peak. There hasn’t been any plot development the last two seasons, people just bitch, cry and apologize to each other in screaming monologues, it’s getting pretty tired.

The Bear was never good. No artistry, felt like they threw a bunch of focus grouped elements like "gritty urban setting," "emotionally damaged protagonist," "angelic black character," "gruff but lovable Hispanic," "beautifully photographed food" in a blender and poured it down all our throats. It's bewildering to me how low people's standards for "prestige" TV are relative to our standards for Film

Dirty, ugly jews touching food, while a major cause for concern, is not a great basis for a tv show

Related: what happened to prestige tv? It dominated from like 2010-2020 then just completely fell off a cliff.

What current shows even count? House of Dragon?

From my perspective as an observer of shitlib / upper-middle brow culture, the relatively current Prestige TV lineup is:

- The Lotus hotel show

- Succession (the Fox News / Murdoch show?)

- Severance

- The Bear (until recently?)

- The Handmaiden show if it’s still on (online feminists still reference this one all the time)

There is a more Scummier version of Prestige TV that includes shit like Sons of Anarchy and Ozark. For those people there is some very graphic medical show with Patrick Dempsey on now. My Florida Scumbag friend loves it.

Season 3 was so meandering & shitty that even the most turbonormie retards realized what a trash show it is

The show was never funny or interesting, but TV critics and similar people are art lovers, so they fall for the "tortured artist making sandwiches bullshit." They loved that these people were like, abandoning their families in order to "eat the perfect BLT" or whatever inane shit happened.

Then the show started winnning too many Emmys in the comedy category, and enough people who worked in actual comedies started calling it out to where the TV critics thought it was cooler to side with Seth Rogen or whoever rather than stay with the "artist porn crowd".

The show was always pretentious and unrealistic. As if the hispanic woman prepping tomatoes for $11/hour just love the craft of being part of something bigger! The movie "Waiting" is actually much more akin to what a real restaurat is like.

A group of people too dysfunctional to run a neighborhood sandwich shop decide to change course and open a michelin 3 star restaurant in the same location is an extremely promising and realistic premise
