My point is that the vendor itself does not pose an enormous threat, and that fear-mongering about it is silly when if a threat exists, it exists in the bureaucrats who would like to wield whatever tools are built. If Palantir doesn't build them, it will be open AI, or some other silicon valley machine learning monkeys. The tools for technostatism will be built, the brand name in the readme matters fairly little. And if they will be built, I'm happy that they will be used for immigration enforcement.

I bring up the low scope because it's illustrative of the fact that they are building literally everything they can. They want to be indispensable to the government, by building every piece of software that handles classified information. They're doing this because they want to make billions of dollars. There's not some great malevolence at work here, they are driven by a profit motive to fill an extraordinarily lucrative niche.

lastly, in terms of what positive vision I offer: I think politics is downstream from culture which is downstream from metaphysics.
