So did Israel switch over to "Greater Israel" then? Since they "won" vs Iran?

They want to colonize Syria but they need money for shit like power stations and a power grid, because Syria lacks basic infrastructure these days (as does Israel it seems). Hard to farm the land with no hoap of irrigation. That's why Trump lifted all sanctions on Syria and no one said a word about it

israel doesn't need the land directly and this isn't really tenable in today's age anyway

what they want is their own little sphere of influence made up of a few dependencies to avoid being subsumed entirely into the american sphere in the region. the us political situation is extremely erratic and self-consuming and i see where the israeli right is coming from on this. i mainly disagree with the means that they've used to get it, but having some degree of cultural and economic independence is a must for the israeli right if they're looking to keep the primacy of their religion within the state and ensure that their culture is preserved

it's not strictly religious. i see it as cultural, and religious matters are a secondary partner in a population's marriage to their culture. the rabbinate isn't actually calling the shots in israel; they're on the board, but they're not real executives. the main power center that governs israel since labour's coalition fell apart after rabin & hamas is the linkage between military intelligence and israeli ultra-nats (who have broad support w/r/t ideological touchstones amongst the regular right wing as well as the center)

this is the israeli "deep state"
